New Mexico Painting

My "real job" has taken me to New Mexico, at least for the next few months (or more). I've already been here 3 months and I've only managed to complete one painting (pitiful, I know). I chose to paint a people native to this part of the country, the Hopi. The image is based on photos by Edward S. Curtis taken in 1906. Curtis traveled North America in the late 19th and early 20th century documenting, with his camera, the indigenous peoples of the land. I had to do a bit of research and guessing on the colors, but I'm pretty sure I'm close. The girls are in the traditional dress and hairstyle of young Hopi women before they marry. The adobe portion of the painting is done with a palette knife instead of a paint brush.  I did a short video of the progression of this painting and posted it to my YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNyuq0DU6oU&feature=youtu.be
