Blog

Way behind, but catching up this week

As usual, I'm way behind on posting to my blog. Really, a lot has happened in my art career lately, which is part of why I haven't posted anything lately (usually it's because there's not much to say). I'll start with the 3-day workshop I took with landscape painter, Gay Faulkenberry. It was hosted by Davis & Blevins gallery in St Jo, Texas just a half hour from my new home. It involved a bit of classroom instruction and A LOT of painting outdoors (which I'm starting to get the hang of). There were only eight students, and that's just about the perfect amount for a class like this. Gay was a knowledgeable and gracious teacher, and the weekend was fun, challenging, enlightening and exhausting all at the same time. We also got a bit of a tutorial from gallery owner and artist, Donna Howell-Sickles, and that was a real treat. That woman can draw beautifully and at blazing speed (phenomenal, really). I'll post the paintings I did in the next couple of posts in a day or two, but below are a couple of photos from the weekend.

Here's Gay helping one of my fellow students (she's the really tall one =o) )

This is the old church in St Jo where we had some of our instruction. It's also Donna Howell-Sickles' studio (well, former studio).

That's all for now!
